Mauritius Wildlife
Mauritius is a beautiful island for people who love nature and animals! The Mauritius wildlife includes a wide variety that are only found in Mauritius and opportunities to see them are abundant.

Mauritius doesn’t have a good history of saving animal species (anyone seen a Dodo lately), however over the last 30 years this has all changed. The Mauritius Wildlife Foundation in conjunction with the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust has invested some serious effort in bringing several species back from the brink of extinction. There are ten common bird species on the island of Mauritius and nine of them are classed as a threatened species! There are a further two on the island of Rodrigues and they are also both a threatened species.
