Besan Ladoo
Besan Ladoo are not just for special occasions. This is a really quick and easy recipe that can be made at short notice.

Ingredients 200 grams besan flour – also called Chickpea flour ¾ cup of butter 1 tablespoon grated coconut 110 grams sugar 1 tablespoon each of almonds, pistachios, cashew nuts (all chopped) (see tip) 1 tablespoon slivered almonds or any other type of nut (see tip) – Optional One pinch ground nutmeg
Method 1. Melt butter over a low heat. If you have a heavy bottomed pan it would be best to use this to stop burning and sticking. 2. Add the besan flour, grated coconut and nutmeg. Cook for about 5 minutes and make sure that you are stirring constantly. 3. Add sugar and the chopped nuts, stir constantly and cook for 10 – 15 minutes or until the mixture is thick and golden brown. 4. Remove from heat and allow to cool enough to handle with your hands. 5. Shape into ping pong size balls. 6. Decorate with slivered almonds and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Tip: You can use any mixture of nuts or if you are allergic, you could add raisins instead. You can also use any type of nuts to decorate or not!
This recipe will make about 15 – 20, depending on your idea of a ping pong size ball!
